BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The City of Battle Creek would like to share a reminder with our neighbors of upcoming holiday service changes throughout the month of December and into early January 2026.
Tuesday, Dec. 16
- City Hall will temporarily CLOSE, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16, during our annual employee holiday potluck, to allow our city staff to celebrate together. Normal business hours will be observed before 11 a.m., and after 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Wednesday, Dec. 24/Thursday, Dec. 25 - Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
- All City of Battle Creek administrative offices will be CLOSED Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday. City offices will resume regular business hours, of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26.
- Ride Calhoun administrative offices will be CLOSED Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25, with regular hours resuming Friday, Dec. 26. RC MAX (fixed-route bus service), RC MOVE (paratransit service), and RC FLEX (on-demand service) WILL operate Wednesday, Dec. 24; however, these services will NOT operate Thursday, Dec. 25, with regular schedules resuming Friday, Dec. 26.
- Full Blast Recreation Center will be CLOSED Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25, with regular hours resuming Friday, Dec. 26. Full Blast will again be CLOSED Saturday, Dec. 27, and Sunday, Dec. 28, reopening for regular hours Monday, Dec. 29.
- Republic Services will be OPEN Wednesday, Dec. 24, and will complete Wednesday pickups; however, they will be starting their collections one hour early Wednesday, Dec. 24, due to the landfill closing early. Republic will be CLOSED Thursday, Dec. 25, so Thursday and Friday pickups will be delayed by one day that week.
Wednesday, Dec. 31/Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 - New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- All City of Battle Creek administrative offices will be OPEN Wednesday, Dec. 31; however, offices will be CLOSED Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in observance of the New Year's Day holiday. City offices will resume regular business hours, of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2.

As an additional reminder, Republic Services will again offer neighbors a way to dispose of fresh Christmas trees through their annual pickup. This year, the fresh Christmas tree pickup runs from Monday, Dec. 29, through Friday, Jan. 23, 2026. Neighbors wishing to use this option should ensure that their fresh Christmas tree is free of all lights, ornaments, and stands, and placed at the curb on your regular garbage day.
