More information: On Monday, April 7, shortly after 11 a.m., the Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 31 W. Rittenhouse Avenue. Crews arrived within three minutes to find smoke coming from the rear of the building. Rescue 2 made entry and discovered a fire on the second floor, which was quickly extinguished with a handline. Additional crews performed search and ventilation operations. Lifecare Ambulance also responded to the scene. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
