Housing Strategy Meeting
Thursday, February 19, 2026
The City of Battle Creek is updating the Master Plan to include a Housing Strategy. As the city addresses housing issues and upcoming economic growth, we need your input on:
- What types of housing fit your neighborhood’s character, what infrastructure improvements are needed, and how to ensure longtime residents aren’t displaced by rising housing costs?
- Workforce housing needs, employee commuting patterns, and the types of housing that would strengthen Battle Creek’s economic competitiveness.
- Understanding development feasibility, identifying regulatory barriers, and exploring opportunities to meet the housing needs of both current residents and the incoming workforce.
Why Housing and Why Participate?
Housing plays a crucial role in the City of Battle Creek, serving as the foundation for community well‑being and economic vitality. Battle Creek must balance the needs of young people entering the workforce, long‑term residents, and diverse populations.
By actively participating in this process, you can voice your concerns, share local insights, and help craft policies that address affordability, sustainability, and choice in housing and neighborhoods.
Involvement is essential in ensuring that the plan reflects the community’s values and aspirations, potentially influencing decisions on zoning, development, and housing programs.
Your participation can lead to innovative solutions that create a more coherent and resilient housing landscape—one that accommodates the city’s diverse population while preserving neighborhood character and enhancing quality of life.
Food and beverages will be served.
