The City of Battle Creek’s park system and the surrounding green spaces and waterways provide plenty of opportunities for boating and fishing. Fishing decks can be found just off the Linear Park along the Battle Creek River at Bailey Park and Horseshoe Bend Park. Fishing is available on Goguac Lake at Willard Beach (within the park and at the old marina).
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has a public boat launch at Goguac Lake located at the junction of Highland Ave and Lucille Street. Additional boating access is available for canoes and kayaks at Bailey Park along the Battle Creek River and on the Kalamazoo River at the junction of Cass Street South and Service Street. Further access to the Kalamazoo River is available in Ceresco (outside of Battle Creek) and at Bridge Park. Other boating and fishing opportunities can be found at the State of Michigan’s Fort Custer Recreation Area.
