Greater Battle Creek Ice Hockey Association
What other sport would call a 6-foot 2-inch 17-year-old a midget?
While its category names Bantam, peewee, squirt, mites may be irreverent,
youth hockey is serious about developing skills and confidence on the ice. Does
your son or daughter have an interest in ice hockey, but doesn't want to commit to
an entire season until they try it?
The (IP) Initiation Program provides new
players with 7 on ice sessions. Young players can rent equipment for their first
two years and play weekly. Not only do players learn the basic maneuvering skills,
but they also learn the value of teamwork and how to have fun.
The official season runs from October to March, but players are encouraged
to join any time.
OK, so if you don't want to play, why
not come watch? A monthly schedule of games and practices is posted at The Rink.
The Rink provides an excellent opportunity for group outings and hockey rentals.
Host an ice skating party during public skate hours - pay only half price admission
for groups of 10 or more. Or the entire facility may be rented for $215 an hour.
Call 966-3625 for more information.
Skating Instruction
From September to March, The Rink offers instruction for youth and adults
at all skill levels. Battle Creek Parks and Recreation has revamped the "Learn To Skate"
program. When your family registers in the NEW "USFSA Skate With Us Program," it will
enable skaters of all ages and skill levels to learn the fundamentals of the sport and
begin a lifetime commitment to health and fitness.
