The Master Plan is divided into the following sections:

Goals
Long-Term Action Plan
Programming Issues
Did you know your Parks and Recreation Department manages over 300 programs during every season? Or that it manages 1,050 acres of parkland - green space that keeps our city beautiful - and popular facilities such as Bailey Park, Full Blast, Binder Park Golf Course, The Rink and the Linear Park? In Battle Creek, we take play as seriously as you do. We're working hard to keep your Parks and Recreation Department on target with its facilities and programs so you can make the most of your free time.

On the following pages are highlights of a five-year master plan for our department. We've included the purpose of the plan, goals and our objectives and proposed policies as well as an approximate timeline for capital improvements. We've also included programming issues to improve access to facilities and inclusion of more citizens. This draft was created with input from a dozen visioning meetings included in the City Comprehensive Plan development, a professional needs assessment study and public review. Hundreds of citizens helped shape this plan to improve our quality of life through recreation.
