Opportunities to play organized basketball are available through the Parks and Recreation Department’s Start Smart Basketball curriculum and as part of partnership between Battle Creek Parks and Recreation and the Cereal City Hoopsters.
Cereal City Hoopsters
The Cereal City Hoopsters program is a summer instructional program with high school aged basketball leagues for all youth in the Battle Creek area at Claude Evans Park. The program includes basic instruction in basketball. Experienced coaches teach fundamentals, and specific skills utilizing a variety of drills and game play throughout an eight week program. Youth Basketball (Grades 3rd-6th)
The sport of basketball is designed to help develop interest for the youngsters. Join our basketball program partnered with Spartan Elite to maintain physical activity and fun this sport brings.
Two weekly practices at Full Blast beginning the week of November 28th, 2016. Dates & times TBD.
Game season begins on Saturdays, December 10th, 2016 - February 11th, 2017 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Lakeview High School. Game times vary based on age.
Registration fee is $100 per participant.
Start Smart Basketball (Ages 3-6) Start Smart Basketball prepares your child for organized basketball in a fun, safe environment. It allows children to work one-on-one with a parent and learn a variety of basketball skills including: passing, dribbling, ball handling, shooting, catching, running, and agility. Participants, with their parents, will engage in several stations to teach the fundamentals of basketball. A parent/guardian is required to participate at each class.

Ages (3-4) classes will be held on Tuesdays, November 8th - December 6th, 2016 & Ages (5-6) classes will be held on Thursdays, November 10th - December 8th, 2016. Class times will be 6:00 PM - 6:45 PM
